Equipment builders buy cable as a component of a machine, not as a project commodity, and that changes what the order has to solve. The recurring problems are quantities per size that fall below the minimum order quantity (MOQ), delivery that must land before the machine itself ships, and a construction that has to match the duty inside the machine rather than a generic installation specification. Continuous flexing, drag chain duty and oil or coolant exposure are the conditions most often missed at enquiry stage. Selection therefore starts from the operating cycle and the OEM's own drawing — conductor class, flex life, screening and sheath compound — before price is discussed.
